Bears and Brollies
May 1st and it's still snowing in my corner of the Shire. Bother.
Umbrella-toting bears by Russian illustrator and animator Igor Oleynikov.
Oleynikov has also illustrated a 2000 Russian edition of The Hobbit.

I adore that first one but why Blogger knew me for my first comment and no longer knows me is a mystery.

I didn't connect Oleynikov with Tolkien until several days after I found the bear illustrations. And quite by accident.
My Google cookie expired between one tab and the other. It logged me out of Gmail as well.
The Hobbit cover is unfortunate. He looks like one of Dad's old Navy buddies.
